The Truth About Postpartum is a postpartum preparation class unlike any other. The first half of this class will be all about newborns. The second half of the class focuses on the parents.  Together we’ll cover:
- Newborn care: feeding, bathing, diapering, sleep, soothing, and more
- Care of the birthing person’s body
- Emotional and mental health during postpartum
- How new babies can affect a relationship
- New parent life hacks
And after we discuss all that, you’ll have an opportunity to create your very own postpartum game plan with our detailed workbook, included with every registration! Most postpartum classes only cover newborn care - so why plan for postpartum prenatally? Chances are you’ve spent a good deal of time planning for your birth. Maybe you’ve done some home improvements during this pregnancy, or you’ve updated the nursery, or packed your hospital bag over and over again. Why not use some of that energy to take care of Future You?! The postpartum period can be a really beautiful time, but it can sometimes be stressful or overwhelming. By being proactive and planning ahead, you will start your new life as a parent feeling prepared and ready to face all the ups and downs of newborn life. After you’ve taken this class, you will:
- Have a list of things to try when your baby is fussy (and when to call the doctor)
- Know how to recognize your baby’s hunger cues
- Know how to diaper and bathe your baby
- Be able to identify if what’s in your baby’s diaper is normal
- Understand what realistic newborn sleep looks like
- Typical postpartum recovery practices and when to call your provider
- Be able to recognize postpartum mood disorders in your partner
- Have the tools to identify and solve the typical relationship issues that can occur when you add a member to your family
- Have a list of tried and true ways to make your postpartum life a little easier, by our doulas and parents who have already been-there-done-that
- Have a solid plan around how to make your postpartum period a positive one
- And a lot more!Â
